Today, this space, the historic Cannon Mills Company Plant No. 6, is one of the area’s largest adaptive reuse projects with a strong emphasis on environmental consciousness. The final Gibson Mill Market brand logo reiterates the overall theme of sustainable placemaking by including an illustration of the historic weaving room building with the clerestory on it’s own that will house the new food hall and market. By combining the Gibson Mill logotype with the bold sans serif typeface for the word “Market”, which is based on type you’d find in old 19th century mill manuals, ties the two brands to work in sync with one another. In addition to the soft red portraying the brick shown throughout the property, it’s also an energizing color that encourages appetite, excitement, warmth and strength. The graphic elements, friendly statements and handrawn illustrations help to visually tell the story of what one can expect from visiting the Market.
