GIBSON MILL MARKET
North Carolina’s Locally Sourced Food Hall. Gibson Mill Market is a one-of-a-kind dining and shopping experience. Bringing together the rich legacy of American-made quality and ingenuity with a modern take on environmental consciousness and commitment to locally sourced goods.
Gibson Mill Market
At the center of Gibson Mill, one of the region’s largest adaptive reuse projects, sits Gibson Mill Market: North Carolina’s locally sourced food hall. The Market needed its own identity, one that could stand on its own as a dining and shopping destination while staying visibly, intentionally tied to the Gibson Mill brand it lives inside. Too close, and it would disappear into the parent brand. Too far, and it would fracture the sense of place both were built to protect.
The Market mark reiterates Gibson Mill’s sustainable placemaking theme with its own illustration of the historic weaving room building and its clerestory roof, the space that now houses the food hall. Combining the Gibson Mill logotype with a bold sans serif “Market,” styled after type found in 19th-century mill manuals, ties the two brands together without collapsing one into the other. The same soft red that runs through the Gibson Mill identity, drawn from the brick throughout the property, does double duty here: it reads as heritage and as appetite, a color built to encourage excitement, warmth, and strength. Friendly, hand-drawn illustrations and graphic elements tell visitors what to expect before they walk in.
The result is a food hall brand that feels like a natural extension of Gibson Mill rather than a separate tenant, reinforcing the larger story of a 19th-century mill reinvented for a community that gathers there today.
