Founder & Design Director at Mindful & Good
Recognized as one of the “100 Most Talented and Influential Creatives Working Today” by HOW Magazine, Rachel Martin is a designer with over 20 years of professional design experience. As an avid do-gooder and advocate for sustainability, Rachel believes designers have the power to lead the way in communicating the importance of positive social and environmentally responsible messages. She implements these values into her projects, the studio and everyday life.
Martin began her career in advertising at BBDO Worldwide in New York City where she designed campaigns with Bayer, Campbell’s, FedEx, PepsiCo and Visa. Before moving to Charlotte in 2007, she served as a senior designer and project manager for Louis Dreyfus, an international group of diversified businesses that is one of the largest privately held companies in the world.
She is the former AIGA National Director of The Living Principles for Design and served over 10 years on AIGA Charlotte’s executive board. She has also been a member of Design Can Change, UNESCO Social Design Network, Ladies of Letterpress, Piedmont Culinary Guild, U.S. Green Building Council and AIGA, the professional association for design, where she helped launch AIGA’s sustainability and “Design for Good” initiatives across the nation.
Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts & Graphic Design from Hofstra University and a certification in Advanced Design Thinking from IDEO.
Freelance Graphic Designer
Through Madison’s years of designing, she has found a fascination with understanding entrepreneurs’ and business owners’ stories, and visually bringing that story to life. She has a background and focus in brand identity, logo design, packaging and advertising. If you are passionate about what you do, she is passionate right there with you. She believes every project is an opportunity to create something meaningful and beautiful.
Keia Mastrianni is a freelance writer and copywriter who has worked in the branding space for over 15 years. She is an alumni of the Creative Circus in Atlanta, Georgia and focuses on food and beverage clients. She is an advocate for good food practices and area farmers.
Brand Strategist & Copywriter
An English major who went to business school, Meg Seitz is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of toth shop – a content strategy and storytelling shop driven to tell good human stories for impact across marketing, branding, communications and public relations.
Graphic Designer & Project Manager
Rhonda Sergeant is a transplant from the Midwest but has made her home in Charlotte for the last 14 years. She started her career in publication design and over time moved into an Art Director role when she and a small team started a lifestyle publication in the Chicago suburb of Naperville. Rhonda now is a freelancer in Charlotte specializing in print design with experience in publication design, branding and collateral. She’s also has a flare for project management and laser-sharp focus for production and cleaning up files.
The world needs more good. Design with purpose. Be a force for good. Practice gratitude. Start a real and rich conversation. Get clear on how you define mindfulness. Practice a morning meditation. Bring thoughtfulness into your work. Create a better world. Live a life of purpose. Let that pedestrian cross the street. (We promise you won’t be late.) Use the word ‘design’ as a noun and a verb. Move the plants to a sunny spot in the house. Reduce the climate impact of your work. Be here now. Walk in faith. Evolve. Drive positive change. Bring your own container. Listen to your intuition. Focus on sustainability. Find crisp, clean fresh air. See the glimmer in everything. Respect the bike lane. Speak your new favorite four letter word – hope. Believe in Mother Earth. Invest time each year in causes and initiatives that light up your soul. Run outside. Let it go. Ask yourself – can I reuse or recycle this? Know that mindfulness is personal. Walk there. Grow herbs on your kitchen window sill. Make someone’s life a little easier today. Unplug. Read the label. Look at the world with bright eyes and genuine spirit. Ask yourself – do I really need to purchase this? Purpose and passion work together. (They actually ignite each other.) Open the window, and take a big, deep breath in. Gift yourself a digital detox. Travel off the grid. Find your middle path between minimal and modern. Seek innovative practices in mind, body and spirit. Eat local. Seek magic. Do good. We’re all in this together.
We are Mindful & Good.
